TAPS

Taps are cutting tools used to create threads in the female portion of a mating pair, such as screws, bolts, and nuts. Taps are used in many industries and trades, including metalworking, sheet metal fabrication, and to insert fasteners. Taps have straight flutes and come in a taper, plug, or bottoming chamfer. The tapering of the threads distributes the cutting action over several teeth.
